ANTHOLOGY III
THE
BURNING HEART
PROGRAM NOTE
The Burning Heart song cycle was composed for the 2012 Staunton Music Festival. The work consists of settings of Japanese love poems (Haiku) translated by Kenneth Rexroth and are in four large volumes, each volume composed for a different voice type and piano. The poems express in very little words, young and mature love, conveying intimacy, sensuality and angst.
