Beyond the Music, a new series of performances from the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra, previews the Masterworks concerts with the orchestra playing excerpts from the repertoire, helping to give context and encourage curiosity in the minds of keiki and kupuna. Programs are curated and hosted by HSO Director of Artistic Engagement and Composer in Residence, Michael-Thomas Foumai, to create an evening of music and knowledge sharing that is unique to Hawai'i. Composed 1893, Dvorak's Symphony from the New World illustrates a vibrant young country with deep ties to the old world. Written in the year of the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom, discover the connections and perspectives Dvorak's symphony offers to an audience in our time.

Through their letters and the four Brahms symphonies, unveil the inexpressible secrets of the Fourth's breathtaking and crushing declaration of love.
