MICHAEL-THOMAS FOUMAI
COMPOSER
BIG RIP
PROGRAM NOTE
The big rip is a rip in the universe resulting from the ever-expanding explosion that started it all, the Big Bang. Eventually the expansion of the universe will take its toll, much like a balloon being over-inflated, and all that is known and unknown will end violently in one cataclysmic rip. The work incorporates musical and gestural rips conveying the idea of something being ripped violently apart.
Awarded Third Prize; College Orchestra Directors Association Composition Competition
